A Special Announcement from the Pattern Rebellion team

Written by Vika O., Damaris D. on Tuesday, 01 May 2012. Filed in Loose Threads

Dear Readers,

As you know our goal has always been to bring you the best emerging and independent designers and while we've been able to do just that through our blog, we're ready to take it to the next level. In order to let you get your hands on the fabulous creations of the next 'Coco Chanel', we're going on a blog hiatus while we diligently work on launching the Pattern Rebellion Boutique.

Don't worry we won't be gone long and in the meantime you can get your Pattern Rebellion fix by looking through our archives, following us on twitter or facebook, or dropping us a line via our contact form (we miss you too!).

Don't forget to sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know when the boutique launches!

Much love,

Vika & Damaris

Recently, Vika and I had the opportunity to meet with Payal Luthra to discuss her unique collection of luxury neckwear pieces. An architect by training, Payal creates modern and chic scarves drawing inspiration from traditional dress and other cultural cues of her Indian heritage.

By using different woven techniques on the finest cashmere from Mongolia, these fashionable neck-warmers can be worn throughout the year. So don’t wait for fall to add one of her scarves to your wardrobe because her collection includes spring pieces that are just perfect for luxuriating during these northeast bi-polar temperatures.

Read on to find out how this architect became a luxury accessories designer.

Outerwear, a cornerstone of every wardrobe, can be challenging. Although a jacket may be your most frequently worn piece, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a stylish coat versatile enough to be worn casually or with that ‘get’em girl’ outfit. Meet Tiffany Lawrence, emerging outerwear designer of her namesake label that offers a hip variety of fall and spring jackets.

Tiffany is a big believer that outerwear should be as much of a reflection of one’s personal style as the outfit underneath. She incorporates unconventional details such as asymmetrical lapels and lantern sleeves that separate her designs from the masses.

2012 is the year of the peplum. Now is the time to take a cue from the latest runway shows and Oscar best dressed actresses and incorporate this trend into your wardrobe. Wondering what the heck is a peplum? The traditional definition of a peplum is a short overskirt or ruffle attached at the waistline of a jacket, blouse, or dress. And no, no need to suffer from 80s flashbacks, today's designers have come up with unconventional ways of incorporating this detail in their collections, providing a fresh take on the trend.
